Krishna is almost always shown wearing a single peacock feather in His crown. There is a beautiful reason. The peacocks of Vrindavan would dance with joy whenever Krishna played His flute. One day, the king of the peacocks offered Krishna a feather as a token of gratitude, and Krishna lovingly placed it in His hair.

The feather also carries deep meaning: the peacock displays its magnificent plumage and then, in humility, lets it fall. So too, the feather reminds us to wear our beauty and talents lightly, with humility and devotion.

“The one who carries the whole universe wears but a single feather.”
