Krishna’s flute — the bansuri — is more than an instrument; it is a teaching. A flute is simply a hollow length of bamboo, completely empty inside. Only because it is empty can Krishna’s breath flow through it and produce enchanting music.

The lesson is profound: when we empty ourselves of ego, pride, and selfish desire, the Divine can play through us. The flute makes no music of its own — it surrenders entirely, and so becomes the source of the sweetest sound in all creation.

“Make of your heart a hollow flute, and let the Lord breathe His song through you.”
